About The Artist

Hello — I'm Kelly Pearce, a contemporary New Zealand landscape painter based in Queenstown, in the lower South Island of New Zealand.

My favourite weather is sunshine just after a storm, when clouds cling to the peaks and light floods the valley. Queenstown is about outdoor living, adventure and appreciating the beauty around us, we love to connect with and reflect the outdoors in our homes.

My work is emotive and expressive, shaped by the landscapes around me. I paint mainly in oil, in abstract, semi-abstract and expressive styles. My work should be a reminder of place, season or a feeling. I want the viewer to connect with the work as they do with the world outside. My work has been described as uplifting, which is perhaps a reflection of my own response to time spent outdoors.

I work from my studio in Frankton, viewing by appointment, and I'm a committee member of the Queenstown Art Society. In winter you'll usually find me at Coronet Peak, where I work as a ski instructor and concierge — the mountains are as much a part of my visual world as the studio.
